A third ODI century from Nat Sciver and a career-best 85 not out for Fran Wilson took England to a huge victory in the second ODI against Pakistan in Malaysia and an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
Captain Heather Knight, making her 100th ODI appearance, also looked in good touch before being run out for 86. Her two wickets in Pakistan’s reply were enough to earn her the player-of-the-match award, however.
Sciver, whose century came in 85 balls and off the penultimate delivery off the innings, said: “It was a shame Heather didn’t get to her landmark because she batted so well and it would have been a lovely way for her to celebrate getting to 100 caps.
“Pakistan have been quite testing, they were hard to get away at points today and they were solid with the bat so we’re happy to have gone 2-0 up and won the series.”
On a pitch with a bit more life than Monday’s first ODI Sciver and Wilson went into overdrive inside the last 10 overs to carry the team to 327 for four. Wilson struck the last ball of the innings for six to carry the team to the eighth-highest total in England history.
