UFC legend BJ Penn is being investigated for possible drunk driving after flipping his car at high speed in Hawaii, according to police.
The troubled Hall of Famer was driving alone when he flipped his black Toyota Tacoma truck into an embankment off a highway in Hilo last Friday night, Hawaii Island Police revealed Wednesday.
The serious crash sparked several emergency calls — including one reporting a “black truck speeding, losing control and flipped into the embankment,” police said in a release.
The 41-year-old fighter, whose real name is Jay Dee Penn, was “taken to the hospital for immediate care, which was paramount for his safety,” police said, without giving further details on the injuries.
TMZ said he appeared to escape serious injury and has already been discharged from the hospital.
Penn — who has already been scrapped from the UFC after a series of humiliating drunken episodes — could now find himself in serious legal trouble, cops warned.
“Included with the traffic investigation there are several cases that include operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant, consuming or possessing liquor while operating a motor vehicle and inattention to driving,” police said in the statement.
“When the investigation is completed it will be routed to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for screening and potential charging.”
UFC boss Dana White confirmed last September that the fighting organization was done with Penn after video of his latest drunken brawl went viral.
“He won’t fight again, that’s it. That’s a wrap,” White told ESPN at the time.
“After what I saw in that video, BJ needs to, you know, he needs to focus on his personal life before he thinks about fighting.”
Penn was raised in Hilo, where he currently still lives and runs Penn Fitness and Training Center.
