Congratulations to rockers Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, the Smithereens, actor Jason Alexander and former Giants Harry Carson and Bart Oates for being inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame. Alas, Mike “Situation” Sorrentino, Chris “Bridgegate “ Christie and Mark “Buttfumble” Sanchez are still on the outside looking in.
And congratulations to the Nationals who showed the heart of a champion after coming back to win twice at Houston, and from a 2-0 deficit in game 7 to win 6-2. The Astros built a two-run lead on Max Scherzer’s watch and Zack Grienke was cruising. All was good until Anthony Rendon’s solo shot in the seventh inning and a walk forced Grienke to the dugout. the next batter, Howie Kendrick, hit a two-run blast to put the Nats up for good. Washington tacked on three insurance runs and won the first championship in franchise history.
Our quest to finish in the black again died along with the Astros on Wednesday night. Houston had two chances to close out Washington, but the road teams went a perfect seven-for-seven. We went heavy on Houston in our series bet as well. What a way to go. Recap tomorrow. But the math says we head into the winter at -1,029 tylenols.
