The Wildcat returns for his 23rd season in The Post. Including the 1997-2018 seasons in the Bettor’s Guide, Cat’s record in print stands at 615-520 (54.2 percent) against the spread.
San Francisco 49ers (+6) over BALTIMORE RAVENS: Given that no entity operating outside of the NFC West has been able to do much against the 49ers defense, speculating that this unit boasts the sheer point-to-point zip to keep pace with Baltimore and Lamar Jackson. Also noting that with the Ravens averaging 39-plus points a game in their last four — have they peaked too soon? We’ll pay to find out, given this head start. San Fran, for one unit.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+1) over JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: Cat’s aware he’s not standing alone, given the huge early market attention lavished upon Tampa Bay. Jags have been grossly noncompetitive since their trip to London and their subsequent bye, and Jameis Winston and his aggressiveness figures to be just the kind of muscular opponent which should continue to bring out the very worst in Doug Marrone’s troops. Jags’ inert ground attack allows opposing defenses to concentrate on restricting the pass, to devastating effect. Liberate the loot with the Bucs, for one unit.
Last week: 1-1. Bengals (W). Patriots (L).
