Good to see all SF spots are up for grabs . Pretty much every game has significance from this point onwards. Thankfully, the most boring and wet CT till date has suddenly sprung to life!

India finally selects it's Champions Trophy squad. A little disappointed that Pant was not selected. They could have played him as a keeper/batsman and Dhoni as a batting all rounder (MSD's slow medium teasers are underestimated. He is a pretty effective bowler and can swing the ball both ways).

My Champions Trophy playing XI for India (assuming these guys are all fit):

R Pant (WK, opener), Rohit, Virat, Dhoni (plays as batsman/slow medium bowler), Yuvi, Kedar, Pandya, Jadeja, Bhuvi, Shami, Bhumrah.

Dropping Ashwin as the ball won't spin much and Jadeja is a better hitter lower down the order. Shami/Bhuvi can swing it both ways , Bhumrah has pace/accuracy and plenty of power hitters and part time bowlers in this line up.

What are your playing XIs for the other participants?

The ball that got Handscomb was a candidate for the Ball of the Century (since Warne has already claimed the award for the previous century with the Gatting dismissal)

While the game is interestingly poised and people will praise Pujara for his "monumental" effort, I have a slightly different take on his innings.

His approach in session 3 was baffling. To maintain a run rate of 1.7 po in the final session of play when your team is 300+ for 4 and both batsmen have their eye in, is doing disservice to one's team. I am not saying Pujara should hit 4s and 6s. But, he goes through patches where he gives up on the intent to score. By spending all that time in the...  more

Interesting debate about the DRS... With the DRS and players not being allowed to check with the dressing room, shouldn't the same also hold true for players checking with the umpire if the player had got an inside edge, for an LBW appeal? This was brought up by Shastri and is indeed a good point. Doubts shouldn't be clarified with the ump, if you have a doubt, take a review. That'll make it more interesting!!

Is Pat Cummins as good a batsman as Mitch Starc? While Starc is a fine bowler, its his lower order batting that is equally, if not more dangerous, for Kohli and team. India is a place where lower order runs make a lot of difference between winning and losing games and that's where Australia will miss Starc in the last 2 games.

Finally, the spice is back in the Border Gavaskar series.. As Haddin put it ahead of the World Cup 2015 Final, "why was everyone being so nice? I can't take it anymore!!"
